Day trips from Montego Bay that actually fit a holiday
Waterfalls, bamboo rafts, and west-end sunsets — the north-coast days that fit a Montego Bay stay, and how to book them while the calendar is still open.

From a Montego Bay hotel you can see a lot of Jamaica without changing rooms. The trick is picking days that match the coast you are already on. East takes you toward Falmouth, Martha Brae, and Ocho Rios. West takes you to Negril. Both are real holidays. Neither needs you to “see the whole island” in one sitting.
We run these as private days: the same vehicle, the same driver, waiting time included. Attraction tickets are usually extra, so you are not locked into a 40-seat coach timetable.
East: Dunn’s River, Blue Hole, and Ocho Rios
Dunn’s River Falls is the one everyone has seen in a photo. The climb is terraced and wet, with a guide at the falls if you want one. From Montego Bay it is a full day if you want to swim, change, and eat without watching the clock. Blue Hole (the secret falls / cool pools near Ocho Rios) pairs well with Dunn’s River for groups who like jumping more than climbing — or it can be its own day if you prefer fewer crowds.
Leave after breakfast, not at noon. Parking and entry lines grow through the late morning. A private van means you are not waiting on another couple’s gift-shop stop on the way home.
The river morning: Martha Brae
Bamboo rafting on the Martha Brae is the gentler east-coast day. You sit, the raftsman poles, and the hills do the talking. It is a half day if you go and come back; it becomes a full day with lunch in Falmouth or a beach stop. Families who found Dunn’s River too athletic often like this one better.
Falmouth itself is a short hop from many Trelawny resorts. If you are already staying there, the raft stand is close. If you are in Montego Bay, it is still an easy morning compared with Ocho Rios.
West: Negril and Rick’s Café
Negril is a different colour of Jamaica: Seven Mile Beach, the cliffs, and a sunset that people plan the week around. A day trip from Montego Bay works if you leave late morning and accept that you will be home after dark. Rick’s Café is the famous west-end perch. Time the van for golden hour, not lunch, if sunset is the point.
If you would rather sleep in Negril than ride back the same night, we also run hotel-to-hotel transfers. Split stays are common: three nights Montego Bay, four on Seven Mile, airport at the end.
What to book, and when
One serious outing every other day is plenty. ATVs, zip lines, and catamarans can fill the gaps; we get you there and wait. Kingston is a real day from Montego Bay — Bob Marley Museum, Port Royal, Hellshire, or the Blue Mountains — if you want the capital, we run it as a private day, not a rushed crossing.
Winter weeks, Easter, and July–August mornings go first. Send the date, hotel, and headcount. You will get USD per person and per vehicle. A 20% Cash App or PayPal part-payment holds the slot before the calendar fills. Text, iMessage, or either WhatsApp number reaches the desk.
